As far as transfer windows go, Nottingham Forest appear, at least from the outside, to be playing a real life save of Football Manager.

Steve Cooper’s side have gone an impressive buying spree since their promotion, with the latest incoming being Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal that could reach £40m or so.

They aren’t done there either, as Nottingham Forest are also trying to sign Álvaro Odriozola from Real Madrid.

There have been a number of stories about the potential transfer already, and AS journalist C.A. Forjanes took to Twitter to inform his followers that the Spaniard wasn’t present at training for the La Liga side on Friday morning.

It’s made clear the right-back is ‘negotiating his possible departure to England’, where ‘he has an offer from Nottingham Forest’.

Now, the fact he wasn’t present at training doesn’t necessarily mean the deal is around the corner, but it’s certainly a good sign for the Tricky Trees.

It generally indicates the player is protecting himself from any potential injury that could scupper a deal, and we’ll have to wait and see what follows this in the coming hours.
