Nottingham Forest and Swansea City have put offers for Almería defender Mathieu Peybernes ‘firmly on the table’ but face competition from Getafe for the 29-year-old.
That’s according to Marca, who report that the player has made it clear he would prefer a move to the Spanish side.
The newspaper explains that while recent reports have linked Getafe with a move for Genoa defender Jawad El Yamiq, he is instead going to Real Valladolid.
That is because Getafe didn’t want to pay a transfer fee and so they have turned their attention to Peybernes.
He’s been an option on the table since April, and everything could not be ‘put together’ to make it happen this summer.
However, they are not the only club interested as the defender has ‘offers’ put ‘firmly on the table’ by both Nottingham Forest and Swansea too.
The nature of those offers isn’t mentioned, but it is stated that the defender is clear that ‘Getafe is where he wants to play’ and he has been waiting for everything to line up in that regard for weeks.
That would suggest both Nottingham and Swansea will face frustration in their pursuit, with him seemingly preferring to stay in Spain rather than make the move to the Championship.
