Reports from Portugal remain confident that Nottingham Forest will complete the signing of David Tavares from Benfica very soon.

On Thursday, it was newspaper Record who said the midfielder was ‘close’ to joining the Championship side, even though they didn’t have many details on how the transfer would work.

Now it’s Correio da Manhã who brings a short paragraph on the move, and that’s enough to make things a little clearer.

They claim the negotiations started last week, but only had the ‘final developments’ in the past few days.

Correio da Manhã says David Tavares should sign for Nottingham Forest on a loan deal, and the Championship side will have a buying option over him.

It’s still not said how much Forest will have to spend on a permanent transfer. Although the player is valued at only €725k by Transfermarkt, we have no doubt Benfica will demand a lot more.

David Tavares has a contract with the Eagles until 2024, and is protected by a €66m release clause.
