DNA explain Nottingham Forest first expressed their interest in Da Costa a few weeks ago, but a knee injury picked up on December 31st had ‘frozen’ talks.

However, the Championship side came back to the fore over the past few days, and after some negotiations, the two clubs gradually found a common ground of €2m + various bonuses.

The player, should he pass the standard medical checks, is expected to earn around €125k/month (around £25k/week) at Nottingham Forest, which will see him triple his income at the age of 29.

That, and the prospect of made playing Premier League football next year.

Down the player’s end, this all seems to be news, seeing as he quote tweeted DNA acting all surprised.
