As reported last week, Nottingham Forest are taking an interest in Keylor Navas as they look for someone to come in and take over from the injured Dean Henderson.
The goalkeeper isn’t expected to return until Valentine’s Day, at the very least, but is also set to return to Manchester United at the end of his loan.
Therefore, Nottingham Forest want to get ahead of the game, with the Costa Rica international seemingly near the top of their list.
Le Parisien have an article on the matter on Monday, and they back up information from elsewhere that the Premier League side are ‘indeed among the suitors’.
In fact, it’s Navas’ experience that they like, and while he wouldn’t cost too much, with his current value estimated at around €5m, it’s the wages that could cause the most issues.
‘Estimated at €12m/year’, the goalkeeper’s salary ‘can be a brake’ in any negotiation, and Le Parisien reckon he will ‘certainly need to make a few financial concessions to hope to bounce back elsewhere’, whether that be at Nottingham Forest or in another interested club.
That means he’s match ready for Nottingham Forest if they do come forward and pull it off, but we’ll have to wait and see if they do.
