Over the past week or so, there has been a push from Italy regarding Nottingham Forest’s interest in Lassana Coulibaly.
The midfielder appears to be a January target for Steve Cooper ahead of the upcoming transfer window, and the price tag is certainly affordable.
Nottingham Forest did spend a lot in the summer, with not all of their signings working out quite as well as they wanted, meaning the next month or so will see them attempt to rectify that.
Players such as Loïc Badé could be shown the exit door, while players such as Coulibaly could come in to improve other areas.
Over in Italy, Cronache Salerno appear to have an update on Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of the 26-year-old, recalling they are ‘on the train’ for his signing.
‘Determined to attempt a comeback’ to avoid relegation, they seem to have targeted the Mali international as the ‘ideal reinforcement’ for their midfield.
In fact, they have already put £7m ‘on the table’ to try and sign him, seen as a ‘nice nest egg’ for the Serie A side, who signed him in 2021 on a free.
However, despite this offer, it’s pointed out the Salernitana bosses ‘will hardly be tempted’, mostly die to ‘the few alternatives currently available’ and the fact Giulio Maggiore recently picked up a serious injury.
Therefore, Nottingham Forest will have to up the stakes if they want to get Coulibaly in January.
