Nottingham Forest’s Andrew Omobamidele was limited to one appearance for the Reds this season and that was in the EFL Cup defeat against Newcastle United in August.
The centre-back’s appearances were partly restricted due to an injury which kept him on the sidelines for more than two months. He wasn’t able to get back into Nuno Espírito Santo’s plans after regaining full fitness.
In the winter market, Nottingham Forest let him join RC Strasbourg on loan with a buying option.
L’Equipe state the purchase clause is set at €7-8m and it’s ‘less certain’ the French club will exercise it.
The Republic of Ireland international made four consecutive league appearances for the Ligue 1 side before picking up another injury in February. He was sidelined for close to 50 days and returned to action at the start of this month.
Since then, he’s made three appearances, including two league starts. The defender has played 469 minutes from eight games for Strasbourg so far.
The report states the Nottingham Forest owned player is ‘highly valued’ at Strasbourg, but they aren’t certain of his stay. They are concerned about the 22-year-old’s injury record and his monthly salary of €220,000 is ‘too high’ for them.
L’Equipe state Strasbourg are in discussions with Nottingham Forest, indicating they want to lower the price. This and a reduction in Omobamidele’s salary would be needed for them to buy him.
