Nottingham Forest are not keeping midfielder Alfa Semedo at the club for next season, according to reports today.

Portuguese newspaper Record say the 22-year-old wasn’t able to convince at the Championship side, and is being sent back to his parent club Benfica at the end of the season.

The Eagles have no plans for him either, so the player will have to find a new club for himself in the next transfer window.

Semedo was loaned to Nottingham Forest last summer, and even made 22 appearances for the club, scoring two goals.

But the English side never had an option to buy him for a set price, and according to Record, won’t even try to get a deal with Benfica for a permanent move.

The player has a contract with Benfica running until 2023, and a release clause of €60m, which doesn’t seem very likely to be triggered these days. This is his second consecutive loan spell, as he spent the final part of last season at Spanish side Espanyol.
