Costa Rica midfielder Brandon Aguilera has admitted he is hoping to use the World Cup as an opportunity to open doors ahead of his move to Nottingham Forest.
The 19-year-old is set to join Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window after securing a move from Guanacasteca in the summer.
He remained with them on loan for the first half of this season to continue his development and ensure regular playing time ahead of the World Cup, where he will be a part of Costa Rica’s squad.
The Central American side find themselves in Group E alongside Spain, Germany and Japan meaning qualification for the knockout stages will be a tough ask.
It does, however, provide lesser known players like Aguilera the chance to showcase themselves on the biggest stage imaginable against two European giants.
That’s something he’s looking to do, admitting he wants to use the tournament in Qatar to open doors for himself as he has ‘to wait to see what happens’ with Nottingham Forest.
“I feel I have to go, open more doors and take all the opportunities,” Teletica report him saying.
“Just as I took other opportunities and faced them, I feel that with personality, dedication and with all the energy possible, I feel that if I face these challenges like that, more doors will open for me.”
