Nottingham Forest have ‘made a first offer’ for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar after opening talks with his agent several days ago.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say Forest have made their first bid and are now the ‘most concrete possibility’ for the 24-year-old.
He’s again been heavily linked with a move away from Lyon this summer, with Real Betis particularly keen on his signature.
They, though, don’t have the money to get a deal over the line unless they sell players first, something that is yet to happen.
Thus Aouar is being linked with move elsewhere and Nottingham Forest have now raced into the picture.
L’Equipe say that while they are not the ‘most expected destination’ for the French international, they are now the ‘most concrete possibility’.
They explain that Steve Cooper’s side have been in contact with Aouar’s agents for several days and made their ‘initial offer’ in the last few hours.
The nature of that offer hasn’t been made clear but L’Equipe say that it is ‘too far’ from Lyon’s expectations for them to accept at this stage.
Aouar, for his part, is not closed to the idea of moving to the Premier League and discussions with Nottingham Forest will continue in the coming days.
Lyon, meanwhile, have confirmed they have received offers from several clubs but there is no agreement in place with any of them, including Nottingham Forest.
