Nottingham Forest have a ‘concrete’ interest in PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo this summer, according to Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by Soccernews.nl.
It’s said the newly promoted Premier League side would like to add the winger to their squad ‘immediately’.
Leeds United showed interest in the 23-year-old before they signed Luis Sinisterra. Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked a few times in the past few months. Nottingham Forest are now added to this list.
The Netherlands international has parked the interest of Cooper’s side and others for the time being and has not made a decision on his future.
That’s because the wideman, for now, wants to focus on helping PSV qualify for the group stages of the Champions League. The Dutch club will have to overcome AS Monaco in the second leg of the third qualifying round later today.
The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw.
The report states the expectation is both PSV and Gakpo will be specifically approached by a top English club this month.
Last week, Gakpo stated he is likely to stay if the club progress to the group stages of Europe’s elite club competition.
Nottingham Forest and the Dutchman’s other suitors will find out today whether PSV will make it to the last qualifying round of this season’s Champions League.
