Nottingham Forest favourite Brice Samba has gotten himself into trouble with Lens fans, by tweeting cryptic messages that he’s on his way to Rennes.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that the goalkeeper’s social media activity has not gone down well with his current employer’s fanbase.
Samba has been with Lens since joining them in a €5m deal from Nottingham Forest back in 2022 after three years at the City ground following a move from SM Caen in August 2019.
He firmly established himself as a favourite of the Nottingham Forest fanbase during his time with the club, with a series of impressive performances in his 133 appearances for the club.
He’s built up a similar rapport in his 96 games for Lens but now appears to have burned that with his social media activity.
FM report that he ‘drives Lensois supporters crazy’ with his behaviour, posting an enigmatic message on his social networks on Friday. This ‘message’ was simply an emoji of two eyes, often interpreted as ‘one to watch’ or ‘keep an eye out’.
The website argues that you don’t need to be a ‘specialist in the psychology of emoticons’ to work out what the former Nottingham Forest man was hinting at; it’s his imminent move to Rennes.
They point out that Lens fans have been left unimpressed, though, accusing their current captain of a lack of respect for them and their club given they still employ him.
Of course, this sort of thing is all the rage with footballers now, with the days of a transfer going quietly behind the scenes and players keeping quiet, not infuriating their own fanbase in the process, a thing of the past.
