Just last week, we covered a report stating that Nottingham Forest were really interested in Rodrigo Becão, currently contracted to Udinese.
What hadn’t been said up until today [Friday] is that Steve Cooper’s side tried their luck in January, but that attempt was turned down.
The news comes from Mondo Udinese, who cover the Brazilian centre-back’s situation, as his current contract with the Serie A side expires in 2024, and that’s what’s attractive clubs like Nottingham Forest.
Should he fail to renew, Udinese will be forced to sell in the summer, as their main aim will be to make some money from an exit rather than let him go on a free in a year’s time.
The website explain ‘there are several clubs that have taken an interest’ in the former CSKA Moscow centre-back, and they range from teams in Italy to some on our shores and the rest of Europe.
It’s recalled that the first team to present an offer for the player was Everton last summer, but that was met with a ‘sharp no’ from the Serie A side.
Then came Nottingham Forest, who ‘sketched out an attempt’ in January to convince Udinese to sell, but they were also met with a ‘negative response’.
There could very well be a return from the Tricky Trees in the summer, if last week’s report is to be believed, all depending on whether or not they manage to avoid the drop back down to the Championship.
Nottingham Forest currently sit in 16th, two points above the relegation zone, having played a game more than 18th placed West Ham.
