In need to strengthen the left wing-back position for the new season, Nottingham Forest have identified Real Betis’ Álex Moreno as a target. They also showed interest in his club teammate, William Carvalho.

On July 30th, reports from Spain indicated the Premier League side made a joint bid of €10m for the duo, but their proposal was rejected by Los Verdiblancos.

Nottingham Forest have ‘contacted Betis again’ to ‘raise their interest’ in the 29-year-old. That’s according to today’s ABC Sevilla, who also detail why the La Liga side turned down their offer for Moreno.

Steve Cooper’s side made a €7.5m bid for the left-back. This was not enough for Real Betis, considering they paid more than that to sign him and the player’s current valuation is higher.

Although Manuel Pellegrini’s side gave a negative response to Nottingham Forest, it’s said  the ‘positions are getting closer’, likely because the contacts have been restarted again.

Real Betis expect the English club to ‘increase their bet’ and make an improved offer in the coming weeks. They can enter into negotiations if these figures were to match his market value.

Moreno, meanwhile, has held talks with the club’s sporting director, Antonio Cordón, to discuss his future and consider his possible departure from the Spanish side.
