Nottingham Forest’s initial bid for Real Betis star Alex Moreno has been labelled ‘derisory’, with it dismissed out of hand.
That’s according to AS, who cover the situation around the defender today and explain why the initial offer of €5m was never going to be accepted.
Despite the fact the Premier League is ‘tempting’ for the player, he will never leave for such a figure.
Betis’s refusal of that bid ‘was immediate’ as they value the player at €18-20m, needing to take into account a 20% future sale clause they will have to pay to his former club Rayo Vallecano.
Thus Nottingham Forest’s bid was far below what they would be willing to accept and therefore rejected out of hand.
Whether they will return with another offer remains to be seen, but if they do so, they will have to significantly up their efforts to get their man.
Betis are more than happy to sell for the right price and would welcome the money from a big sale to help ‘eliminate the red numbers’ in their books.
The initial offer of €5m was not enough to do that, though, and Nottingham Forest will need to open the chequebook much wider if they still want to add Alex Moreno to their squad this summer.
