In December, Nottingham Forest parted ways with Steve Cooper and appointed Nuno Espírito Santo as his successor.

The Portuguese manager was tasked with avoiding relegation and finished 17th in the table.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s deal lasts until 2026, but Nottingham Forest seem to be looking at options to replace him.

DAZN journalist Orazio Accomando took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that the English club have made an approach for Stefano Pioli.

The 58-year-old spent close to five years at AC Milan before leaving them at the end of the recently concluded season. He helped the Rossoneri win the title in the 2021/22 season.

Nottingham Forest have showed keen interest in the Italian as Accomando claims they made an ‘important offer’ to him in ‘recent weeks’. The journalist hasn’t provided the details of the offer, but that wouldn’t matter because Pioli has rejected it.

The manager wants to wait for a club who can offer him a sporting project that’s ‘more stimulating’. Pioli perhaps wants to be fighting for titles rather than trying to help Nottingham Forest with a longer term project.
