Tottenham Hotspur forward Bryan Gil hasn’t suffered a serious injury setback, according to Sevilla manager José Luis Mendilibar.
The La Liga side appointed the 62-year-old as Jorge Sampaoli’s successor last week and he provided an update on Gil’s injury during Canal Sur’s ‘Gol a Gol’, relayed by Mucho Deporte.
Tottenham let Gil join Sevilla on a loan deal in January and his displays have helped him return to the Spain squad this month. He was forced to withdraw last week due to a fitness issue.
Last Friday, AS stated the Tottenham owned player has withdrawn from La Roja squad as a precautionary measure after he complained about muscle discomfort.
He has returned to the Andalusian club and underwent a test at the weekend. José Luis Mendilibar has provided an update on the test result.
“Today – on Sunday – he had a test. It’s nothing serious and I think he could be there in the middle of the week to start training,” the new Sevilla manager said.
Sevilla take on Cádiz in the league on April 1st and face Manchester United twice in the Europa League later that month. José Luis Mendilibar’s latest update on the Spurs loan man will come as a boost for the Spanish club.
