Last week saw multiple reports from German press push Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland closer to Manchester City.
On April 16th, Bild stated that Pep Guardiola has given his approval for the Citizens to sign the striker and he ‘wants to go’ to the Etihad in the summer.
It was also stated the deal to take Haaland to Manchester City is ‘stuck’ because Alf-Inge Håland and Mino Raiola are demanding commissions of €30m and €40m respectively.
For the past 48 hours or so, various reports coming out of the British media explained the Norway international has given the green light to joining Manchester City and has agreed personal terms with the Citizens.
Claims made in England have been relayed by Norway’s TV2, who then state the 21-year-old ‘has still not made a decision’ on his future.
It’s explained ‘discussions and negotiations are underway at the moment’. Haaland may end up at Manchester City, but as it stands, TV2 state the hunt for his signature ‘should not be over’ since Real Madrid are still in the picture to sign the BVB frontman.
To sum it up, TV2’s report doesn’t dismiss the possibility of Haaland ending up at Manchester City next season. They only state that as it stands, the BVB star has still not made a decision and talks are ‘underway’.
Wednesday’s edition of AS explains ‘the Haaland case’ is ‘heating up’, but ‘nothing is closed’ even though reports are stating otherwise.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side still have the goalscoring striker on their agenda. Los Blancos are ‘aware’ he ‘continues to see the option of going’ to the Bernabéu as an ‘opportunity that is difficult to waste’, even though he would earn less.
Despite reports in England stating there is an agreement in place between Haaland and City, AS explain that ‘at the moment there would be no signatures’.
Although Real Madrid have a clear priority to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé, they ‘continue to probe’ the BVB attacker and ‘work on his possible signing’.
Manchester City have Haaland as the priority target next summer, but both TV2 in Norway and AS in Spain are reporting that ‘nothing is closed’ yet.
