Ecuador international Moisés Caicedo’s performances for his country and Independiente del Valle have attracted attention from top European clubs.
The list includes Manchester United and reports coming out of the South American nation on Tuesday stated there is ‘white smoke’ for the 19-year-old’s transfer to Old Trafford.
These claims were further backed up today by two Ecuador newspapers, El Diario Expreso and Diario Extra.
They stated the Red Devils have ‘put more money’ down than RB Leipzig and AC Milan to get ahead of the queue to acquire the midfielder’s services.
However, United’s effort to sign the ‘young Ecuadorian pearl’ is not advanced as it’s been reported elsewhere. That’s according to StudioFútbol, also in Ecuador.
It’s claimed there is ‘great interest’ from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in signing Caicedo, but ‘still nothing is closed’.
This doesn’t mean that there’s no possibility for Manchester United to sign the player in the winter market as the outlet adds ‘there could be news in the next few hours’.
StudioFútbol further adds ‘several European teams’ have shown interest in Caicedo, and any club who wants to take him will have to pay ‘between 6 and 7 million’. This is likely to be in dollars.
On December 22nd, Independiente del Valle general manager Santiago Morales accepted defeat in retaining Caicedo beyond this month. Therefore, it’ll be interesting to see where he will end up in January.
