Soon to be appointed Fenerbahçe manager, Aykut Kocaman is currently analysing the Fenerbahce squad ahead of next season. One of the major talking points is Sunderland’s Jeremain Lens, and Fenerbahçe fans are waiting anxiously if he will remain with the club next season.
However, Kocaman isn’t sure if he wants to keep the Sunderland outcast at the Turkish club. Milliyet say Kocaman has informed the Fenerbahçe board Lens is ‘not a special player’.
According to Kocaman, Lens is a good player, but he believes there and others who could do a better job, such as Taison or Jesus Navas. Kocaman has also said Lens has some weight issues and he’s too heavy for a winger.
Fenerbahçe are still hopeful about Lens and signing him from Sunderland, but Kocaman has told the club’s board spending €5m on the player is too much.
It seems Lens no longer has a future at Sunderland after comments he’s made in recent months, and if a move to Turkey doesn’t happen other clubs are likely to snap him up.
This could all be a Fenerbahçe bargaining tactic, to talk Sunderland down in price.
