Mundo Deportivo report Edinson Cavani remains keen to join Barcelona in the winter transfer window, despite the Catalan club dropping out of the Champions League.
Defeat to Bayern Munich last week means Xavi Hernandez’s side have dropped down to the Europa League, however, it’s made clear the setback hasn’t put the Manchester United player off a move to the Camp Nou.
At Barcelona they’re still evaluating the situation, and whilst they aren’t yet completely convinced that Cavani would be the right winter signing, largely down to him being 34-years-of-age, he’s still someone of interest if other options aren’t available.
Cavani is convinced, according to the Catalan newspaper, and dropping out of Europe’s premier competition is ‘not an obstacle’ for him. He wants to wear the Barcelona shirt and would therefore be willing to talk about a transfer.
Barcelona first need to remove some of their ‘salary mass’, because without doing that they’ll find it hard to make any signings during the winter market.
After that, Cavani will have to wait and see if he’s one of the players Xavi then seriously targets.
