Since Manchester United announced the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus until he finally gets to play for the Red Devils, we’ll keep hearing stories about this move.
Even though the Old Lady seem to be completely focused on their business in Serie A, there are people in Italy who are still digesting the fact that the club’s biggest star suddenly left them.
Newspaper Tuttosport features an interview with two former Juventus players. One of which is Sergio Brio, who played for the club for over a decade, and he made it clear he isn’t happy with the way the Portuguese player departed.
“Juve deserve more respect. I didn’t expect Cristiano Ronaldo to snub the Juventus club like that, it’s not nice of him,” said Brio.
“I always speak very well of the three teams, Pistoiese, Juve and Lecce, in which I played because they took me, pampered and believed in me. For heaven’s sake, Cristiano remains a great player and professional, but the farewell could have taken place in another way and with other words.”
Meanwhile, former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi says Ronaldo should’ve done things differently.
“He should have made a different exit, not go away in his private plane while Allegri spoke on the eve of the match against Empoli. I’d have expected a press conference to greet the fans: the Juventus people praised him, they deserved a different greeting.”
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus in a €117m move from Real Madrid in 2018. In his three years at the club, he won Serie A twice and the Italian cup once, scoring 101 goals in 134 matches.
His desire to leave the club was a topic in the Italian media since the end of last season, even though he only completed the transfer to Manchester United at the end of the transfer window.
