With Manchester United set to welcome Milan in the Europa League, the already recurring topic of Diogo Dalot’s future in Italy has returned.
The Portuguese defender was sent to San Siro for the season in order to get some minutes under his belt, and while he has played, it’s mostly been as a backup.
He most recently excelled in a 2-0 win over Hellas Verona, where he filled in down the left for Théo Hernández, and he could feature in the upcoming clash against the Red Devils.
Speaking to the press ahead of the fixture, Stefano Pioli was asked about Dalot and what he wanted to do with him going forward.
He replied, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb: “We are happy with his performances and growth. As far as the future is concerned, we are too focused on the league and the Europa League. Then it’s not me who makes decisions about his future”.
It appears the manager is rather pleased with what the Manchester United man has offered so far, and if he’s that chuffed with the loanee, then perhaps there would be some consideration in keeping him beyond the current season.
That, however, will be up to Paolo Maldini and co., who will have the final say on where the money available to them will go in the summer.
