Part of the Watford side that were relegated back to the Championship, Ken Sema has seen his time on the pitch increase in England’s second-tier.
That’s not something he’s mad about, and nor are the Hornets, as the Sweden international has two goals and two assists in his first eight league games of the season.
However, there certainly was a chance for him to head to greener pastures, although whether Watford would have let him leave is a different matter altogether.
Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, he said: “In football, it’s never obvious to stay. There have been both rumours and interest, but it’s not just about me. I have a contract with Watford, so it’s about what they think too.”
He’s also built for the Championship, which he sees as a ‘physical league where you focus more on speed, aggression and strength’ rather than other championships that could be seen as more tactical.
As for the season’s aim, that will be, of course, to get promoted straight back to the Premier League, which Sema is keen to help Watford achieve.
For him, they have a different status now, which is: “We will be the big team that everyone wants to beat. We have a different confidence and if we do what we have to do, we will be at the top and fight for promotion again.”
