Manchester United forward Romulu Lukaku has told the Italian media he would be open to playing in Serie A one day.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport the Manchester United player said, when asked about playing the Italian top flight: “Why not, I hope so.”
In recent months Lukaku’s club teammates Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial have been linked with moves to Serie A. Both French internationals have reportedly had their differences with Jose Mourinho and Italy could be an escape route, although there’s been nothing especially serious on a move for either.
However, Lukaku’s situation at Old Trafford is more stable and it’s unlikely a move to Serie A would happen anytime soon.
Lukaku was speaking ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Juventus next week, when the top two in group H meet each other.
Given he was speaking to an Italian newspaper, he could hardly talk down Serie A.
Jose Mourinho’s side go into the game after a disappointing result against Valencia and it’s likely the Premier League side will have to get something out of the two matches with Juventus to progress to the knockout stages of the competition.
