Tottenham Hotspur have had a mixed to start to their Champions League group, with a 2-0 victory over Marseille followed by a 2-0 defeat to Sporting CP.
They face Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday evening, and will be looking to take all three points home from Germany. One of the key men for the Bundesliga side is Mario Gotze, with the 30-year-old having got his career back on track after facing health issues.
He’s played eight Bundesliga matches so far this season and contributed two goals during that time, including one at the weekend against Union Berlin.
However, he had to leave the pitch during that match after injuring his ankle. It was thought to be a minor twist and Gotze spent the rest of the game with an ice-pack on the injury.
Afterwards, the club insisted they weren’t too worried and the suggestion was he’d be available to face Antonio Conte’s men. Bild now report he’s missed Monday’s training session, the final one before facing Tottenham.
Obviously, they say that is ‘not a good sign’ and there will now be doubt over his participation in the Spurs match.
