Now that the dust is settling on Carlo Ancelotti dumping Everton for Real Madrid, it’s time for the reaction.
Naturally, the Italian’s departure has not gone down well among Everton fans, who are undisputedly heartbroken at the betrayal of it all.
Over in Madrid, though, there has been a wave of positivity, with many happy to see the man who brought La Decima to the club making a return.
Indeed, Spanish newspaper AS even had Ancelotti mocked up as Gandalf the White from the Lord of the Rings, suggesting he is some magical being returning to the fore to save the day.
Whether that happens remains to be seen, especially given he hardly set the world on fire during his time with Everton.
Regardless, Ancelotti’s return has been largely met with a positive reaction, although it seems some are not that impressed.
Step forward Látigo Serrano.
“The signing of Ancelotti gives me similarities to that of Lopetegui because he was not the first, second or third choice,” MARCA report him saying.
“And also with Rafa Benítez. It seems to me ill-timed, it wasn’t his time. The Madrid of 2021 should not be built around Ancelotti”.
