Sevilla have no intention of letting Jules Kounde leave in the January transfer window, even if Manchester United offer big money for his signature.
That’s according to Marca, who say the La Liga side will not even consider a sale until June next year.
The newspaper explains that, after a summer of being linked to Chelsea but not managing to secure the move, Kounde is ‘happy’ at the club again.
The summer drama is considered water under the bridge, although it has not been forgotten by him or the club.
His intention remains to leave the club, although that will have to wait until next summer as Sevilla will not sell him midway through the season. They intend to wait until the summer and make the most of his €80m clause.
That puts an end to Manchester United’s hopes of getting him as they continue to ‘hover’ around the Frenchman.
Several reports have indicated they intend to come in big to sign him and solve their problems in defence, but Sevilla simply do not care.
They are ‘calm’ about the situation and believe even though United are interested, they will not match the clause in his contract. In fact, they don’t think anyone will.
While they need to make a ‘great sale’ before the end of June, selling Kounde would ‘destroy the team’ halfway through the season, and they ‘do not even think about it’.
Instead, once the season is over, they will put Kounde on the market and try to get as much as possible from any potential deal.
They want his departure to be natural and not forced, so will wait until the time is right and hope the likes of Manchester United are still willing to pay a big enough sum to ensure they ‘get a financial return’ from the player.
