Galatasaray president Mustafa Cengiz has spoken to Turkish newspaper Sabah about winger Garry Rodrigues.
The 27 year old attacker has been linked with a move to Newcastle United this summer after claims in recent days the Magpies are lining up an offer for the player.
Speaking to Sabah, Cegiz was asked if he’s under pressure to sell Rodrigues in the summer window: “Can you name me 5 better players currently playing in the biggest leagues in Europe who are better than Rodrigues? No you can’t. I saw reports that we are valuing him at around €20m. That’s not correct.
“I think his price will be much more than that. But of course, the decision is up to Fatih Terim. If Garry wants to stay, and if Fatih Terim wants him to stay then of course we will not let him go, not even for €50m.”
This week it was claimed Newcastle United are lining up a bid in the region of €23m for the Cape Verde international. This transfer fee is similar to want Everton paid Besiktas for Cenk Tosun and the assumption in Turkey is that Rodrigues will be sold for a bid in this region.
In recent weeks Newcastle United have been travelling to Turkey to get a final assessment of the player ahead of the summer transfer window.
Everton and West Ham United have also been linked with Rodrigues.
