Carney Chukwuemeka swapping Aston Villa for AC Milan has gone a little quieter in the Italian media over the past couple of days.

The 18-year-old has been linked to the biggest clubs in Europe in recent months, with it being abundantly clear there’s agents at work behind the scenes, trying to hype the situation and find a big deal for their client.

Milan has been the destination mentioned most in recently, with the youngster being hugely hyped in the Italian media and a move being continually pushed forward.

Friday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport pulls things back a little, largely due to the price Aston Villa are said to be asking for. Despite the midfielder having less than a year left on his contract with the Birmingham club, it’s stated they want £20m for him.

According to the Italian newspaper, Milan simply wouldn’t be prepared to pay this, ‘not even close’.

Therefore, the situation is expected to drag into August and the Rossoneri’s hope is that Aston Villa will get nervous, given the player’s contract situation, and reduce the price in the coming weeks.
