Jurgen Klopp extended his contract with Liverpool earlier this year, and now has a deal at Anfield lasting until June 2026.
There wasn’t much doubt about his future with the club, with the manager clearly being happy with his lot on Merseyside, and Liverpool fans holding the German in hero status.
Unfortunately for Klopp, this season hasn’t started as he’ll have hoped. They currently find themselves 10th in the Premier League, 11 points behind Arsenal and 10 behind Manchester City, although they have played a game less.
A title challenge may already be slipping away, but Klopp’s commitment to the cause, and his stance that a renewal was the correct decision, remains the same.
The Liverpool manager has been speaking to Sky Germany, and made that commitment clear, saying that if he didn’t feel things were right then it would have been best to part ways.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg quotes him speaking specifically about the contract renewal: “I always knew that I would like to stay here. I‘m still at the right place here, 100%. And if not, then you have to end it. It would be silly not to. But everybody involved doesn’t see things like that.”
