Wanted by a number of teams around Europe, Lorient’s Alexis Claude-Maurice is also attracting attention from a Championship (or should we now say Premier League?) side.

According to L’Equipe, Norwich City, who secured promotion to England’s top-tier after topping the league below, are taking a ‘close interest’ in the 20-year-old, who has impressed greatly in Ligue 2 with his 14 goals and three assists in 31 appearances this season.

The French newspaper explain the Canaries could face some strong competition as Lille (qualified for next season’s Champions League), Eintracht Frankfurt (this year’s Europa League semi-finalists) and Real Sociedad (erm… they’re eighth in La Liga?) are all also on the case.

L’Equipe believe an exit is becoming ‘more and more’ probable in the summer for the youngster, regardless of whether Lorient manage to return to France’s elite or not.

Currently sixth (behind fifth on goal difference), Matteo Guendouzi’s former side still have a chance of making the playoffs for promotion to Ligue 1 if Lens, who play Orleans (8th) at home, slip up in their final game.

Claude-Maurice is expected to cost around €10m.
