Championship duo Sunderland and Norwich City have ‘shown the most interest’ in goalkeeper Joel Robles this summer.

That’s according to journalist Jose Alvarez, who says they also face competition from Club Brugge for the 32-year-old.

Robles is currently out of contract after leaving Real Betis, where he had been since 2018 after arriving on a free transfer from Everton.

He had previously spent five years with the Toffees following a £3.6m move from Atlético Madrid, who he had been with as a youngster after arriving from Leganes in 2007.

He managed just 65 appearances during his time at Goodison Park but that has seemingly not put clubs in England off.

Alvarez reports that Championship duo Norwich and Sunderland are both looking at the 32-year-old this summer.

Sunderland are busy adding to their squad after promotion last season and currently have Anthony Patterson and Alex Bass as their goalkeeper options.

Norwich, meanwhile have Angus Gunn, Tim Krul, Daniel Barden and Michael McGovern so are in less need of goalkeeping reinforcements than their Championship counterparts.

According to Alvarez, though, they have ‘shown the most interest’ in Robles, so his name may be one to keep an eye on moving forwards.
