Having secured their return to the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City can now focus on strengthening their squad to ensure they remain in the top tier beyond next season.
One of the areas they are allegedly looking to address, according to Le10 Sport in France, is at right-back, and they have a potential free transfer lined up.
The player is Rennes’ Mehdi Zeffane, whose contract is due to expire in June, who could still renew with the Ligue 1 side, but Norwich are said to be ‘closely interested’ in the 26-year-old.
The French website explain ‘first enquiries’ have been made by the Canaries, and a contract offer might not be too far behind.
Zeffane has mostly served as a versatile rotation option this season for Rennes, playing at right midfield, left-back and right-back throughout their campaign, which now includes lifting the Coupe de France, having beaten Paris Saint-Germain on penalties in the final over the weekend.
For a club like Norwich, who will lose Felix Passlack and could also see Ivo Pinto exit in the market, signing someone like the Algeria international could go a long way next season.
