Norwich City were reportedly the only British side to have scouts at the Portuguese league match between Feirense and Benfica on Sunday.
It’s Portuguese newspaper Record who reports the Canaries’ presence at Estádio Marcolino de Castro, although they don’t say who the emissaries were watching.
Norwich ended up seeing a great comeback from Benfica. Although Feirense scored an opener, there was no chance for the home side since it was followed by four goals from the Eagles.
Fabio Sturgeon scored for Feirense, while Pizzi, André Almeida and Haris Seferovic were responsible for Benfica’s comeback.
Although Norwich City haven’t been linked to any Benfica or Feirense players lately, it’s worth pointing out that the Portuguese press said there would be club officials in Portugal this weekend.
Following the Canaries’ interest in the Moreirense midfielder Chiquinho, the Championship side scouted him on Saturday, and it’s been said a bid would be made in the same trip. Now it seems they’ve enjoyed their time in Portugal watching other games as well.
Eintracht Frankfurt, Tondela, Parma, Marseille, Atletico Madrid and Cadiz were the other sides who had officials at this match.
