If Soccer Link are to be believed, then Willie McKay is trying to get Alexis Claude-Maurice to either Norwich City or Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.

The French website claim the English intermediary or whatever-you-want-to-call-him (since he’s not an official agent these days) is now involved in the youngster’s dealings, with both the Canaries and the Seagulls coming forward to see if they could get something done.

However, they face competition from OGC Nice in France, which appears to be the 20-year-old’s preferred destination out of the three.

It’s said that neither Norwich’s nor Brighton’s projects interest him, while Nice have ‘accelerated’ on the deal over the past few hours, trying to reach an agreement with Claude-Maurice regarding a contract.

For some reason, former Marseille chairman Vincent Labrune is also involved, making this whole thing even more eyebrow raising than usual.

Claude-Maurice had a good season for Lorient in Ligue 2 last year, and while teams such as Arsenal and West Ham have come knocking, it seems a stay in France could be on the cards.

It’s probably what’s best for him too at this point in his career.
