Inter Milan are in the picture to sign Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, according to a report from InterLive.it.
The centre-back has been on the sidelines for two months due to an injury. He returned to the pitch against Crystal Palace at the weekend and Everton secured their first league win of the season.
The Friedkin Group have agreed to take over Everton and are waiting for the deal to be approved by regulators. InterLive.it state the new Toffees owners have to ‘watch out’ for the Serie A side.
Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi are among the centre-backs at the San Siro. Their deals expire in 2025, and their futures seem to be away from the Nerazzurri.
Inter chairman Giuseppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio are carefully looking at centre-backs in the market. They have included the Everton star in their list and are leading the chase.
The report states the Serie A side could ‘make an attempt’ for Branthwaite next year. At this moment in time, the England international is only an idea for Inter and when the club’s hits reality then that idea will die.
That’s because it’s claimed the Everton player is valued at €40m [£33.3m] and even that is thought to be high for Inter.
It’s worth noting the Premier League side reportedly valued Branthwaite at £70m when Manchester United offered around £50m for him in the summer.
Inter Milan, therefore, won’t be signing him.
