Universitario manager Jorge Fossati has insisted that they won’t block any move to Brighton and Hove Albion for youngster Piero Quispe if the Seagulls do move for him.

Fossati has been quoted by Peru 21, as has Quispe, as rumours regarding a potential move to Brighton continue to build.

Reports last month emerged that Quispe was the latest target that Brighton had targeted as they continue their efforts to source talents from around the world to develop for the future.

That was quickly rejected in Peru, where there was insistence that there had been no bid and Universitario chief Jean Ferrari insisted nothing was going on.

There’s been little mention of the rumour since that point, with Quispe continuing to play for Universitario and Brighton presumably keeping a close eye on him.

They’re yet to make their bid for him but his manager Fossati has admitted that if they do come calling for their ‘jewel’, they’ll be open to a sale.

“God will say if it is time for a proposal to arrive and he has to leave before. He is important, but we have to know that none of us are essential,” he said when asked about the subject.

That proposal is yet to arrive, though confirmed by the player himself, who has also insisted his focus is elsewhere.

“I, from the outside, know nothing. My representative is in charge of that, because I am focused on Universitario de Deportes and I don’t see anything about the rest,” he added.
