Bayern Munich have been advised against making a move for Tottenham’s Harry Kane next summer, because they already have Eric Choupo-Moting in the squad.
That’s the opinion of journalist Raimund Hinko, who believes there is no need for the German champions to splash their cash on the England captain.
Kane has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern over the last few weeks, with it believed they’re on the hunt for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
He left for Barcelona in the summer, but Bayern elected not to target a direct replacement, instead hoping that Sadio Mane could help to fill the hole left behind by the Polish star.
That’s not happened, and several reports have now made it clear those in charge of the club want a big name forward, with Tottenham star Kane believed to be on the list.
His current contract with Tottenham runs until 2024 and is yet to be renewed, meaning he could be available for a cheaper price next summer if Spurs want to avoid losing him for free the following year.
That potential low cost for a world-class striker has seemingly put him on Bayern’s radar but Hinko believes the move would be an unnecessary one.
“A solution with Choupo-Moting would save Bayern many millions,” he told SportBILD.
“Above all, an unfortunate transfer of the clumsy penalty-taking specialist Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur. Nobody really needs him in Munich.
“He would cost almost twice as much as the €17m Bayern gets from the controversial sponsor Qatar Airways.”
