Even if West Brom had managed to stay in the Premier League, an exit for Nacer Chadli wouldn’t have been a surprise.
Making just a handful of appearances last season, for several reasons, saw Chadli facing the prospect of missing out on the World Cup in Russia.
Roberto Martinez had other ideas, trusting Chadli and knowing the West Brom player could operate in a number of positions. It paid off and the footballer didn’t let his manager down at the World Cup, playing an important role for the Belgian team.
Given all of that, it’s a surprise the 29 year old remains with the Championship club, and he hasn’t played a minute of football so far this season.
Het Belang van Limburg looks at the situation in their Monday edition, and the Belgian newspaper says nobody has been ‘prepared to pay’ what the Baggies are asking for.
That figure has been put at £18m, and whilst there’s interest from Turkey it’s certain no Super Lig club will pay such an amount.
In Turkey the reports have made it clear clubs there would prefer a loan deal.
