On Saturday we covered claims from German newspaper Bild that Dedryck Boyata is on the verge of leaving Celtic for Hertha Berlin.

The defender’s contract expires in the summer, and he’s refused attempts from the Glasgow club to get a renewal. Therefore, a Celtic exit is almost certainly not so far away.

Boyata had wanted to leave the Scottish Premiership club before now, and there’s been frustration from both sides. A potential summer move to the Premier League was rumoured as a summer possibility, but Hertha were said to have managed to convince the Belgian.

Since the initial claims from Bild it’s gone quiet, with no further splashes from Germany or from the player’s side.

Monday’s edition of HLN reports that nobody in the Celtic player’s ‘entourage’ has been willing to confirm the Hertha move is happening.

That could be because Boyata doesn’t want everything to be confirmed just yet, or maybe he’s getting cold feet… with the 11th placed side losing all of their past four Bundesliga matches.
