Manchester City were keen on signing Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso in the winter market but weren’t able to secure his services.

Back in February, the left-back’s agent, Giovanni Bia, confirmed Pep Guardiola wanted his client.

Manchester City have continued to be named as a contender for the left-back since then, while Liverpool have also been thrown into the mix. The Reds announced today that Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave when his contract runs down in June.

Bia earlier told TuttoMercatoWeb that his exit could have an impact on other fullbacks. He mentioned this when responding to claims of summer interest from Manchester City and Liverpool.

“There are some movements around, for example Alexander-Arnold seems like he could go to Real Madrid but in general there are various situations that could move,” he said.

Former AC Milan and Fiorentina midfielder Massimo Ambrosini has tipped Manchester City to return for the 25-year-old in the upcoming window.

Journalist Ciro Venerato now analysed Juve director Ciro Venerato’s plans for the summer for Rai and Tutto Juve relayed his comments.

According to Venerato, Manchester City are unlikely to revive their interest in Cambiaso.

“Giuntoli would have blocked Sandro Tonali, but first he will have to sell Cambiaso: no signal from Manchester City, struggling with problems,” he said.

The Italy international has struggled with multiple injuries since the start of this year. To put it in context, he’s picked up four different injuries, forcing him to miss 42 days so far.
