Manchester United are very much in the market for an attacker, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from the club making Erin ten Hag’s need greater.
There’s a list of names to have been linked in recent months, with players such as Cody Gakpo, Rafael Leao and Victor Osimhen regularly pushed forward.
Due to Gakpo’s performances at the World Cup, he’s getting the most attention right now, and there’s probably some good basis for that given Manchester United made an attempt during the summer.
Gazzetta dello Sport, via Il Napoli, report the Red Devils have also made an attempt for Osimhen. They say it’s ‘no secret’ that Newcastle United first came forward and were then followed by Ten Hag’s side.
There’s expected to be offers in the next summer window, with Napoli making noises about wanting more than €100m for their player. Should Manchester United be able to get Gakpo in January, and for a much cheaper price, then that looks a move attractive deal than Osimhen.
Nevertheless, it’s an option there to be considered.
