Ander Iturraspe has been linked with Leeds United for a number of months.

The midfielder has hardly featured for Athletic Club Bilbao over the past season and his contract expires at the end of June. There’s been no efforts from the Basque club to find a renewal, so the 30 year old is free to find a new destination this summer.

PAOK have been linked over the past week or so in the Greek media, and that’s been picked up by AS. The Spanish newspaper point out it was they who first reported Leeds is a possible destination for Iturraspe.

It’s not stated that failure to achieve promotion to the Premier League is something which could kill the potential move, but Marcelo Bielsa is crucial.

There’s been plenty of rumours, mostly unfounded, around the Argentine manager over the past week or so, and he’s the connection to the Athletic player.

Iturraspe was brought through by Bielsa, and the belief in Spain has been that he could enjoy playing for the manager again.

For now, there’s ‘no rush’ for the midfielder, as he wants to make sure the right decision is made for his future.
