Nobody at Fiorentina is denying potential interest in Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, although he’d have to significantly reduce his wages to make the move.
That’s according to Firenze Viola, who report that while ‘no one denies’ the rumour about Kepa at this moment in time, there are some practical matters to be considered.
A report in Spain today named Kepa as a potential target for Fiorentina as Chelsea look to move him on and a return to Real Madrid doesn’t materialise at Andriy Lunin is yet to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
Any move would not be a simple one for Fiorentina, who could afford the €5m asking price that Chelsea have put on his head.
The big issue would be the player’s wages, which currently sit at €9m per year and are ‘absolutely out of the Viola’s reach’ at this moment in time.
He’d have to take a significant cut on those if he were to make the move to Florence, and there’s no indication of that happening at this moment in time.
Perhaps an agreement could be struck with Chelsea on that front if Kepa shows a willingness to join Fiorentina, who won’t rule out the possibility of it happening publically, even if the finances don’t add up for now.
