In signing Fred from Shakhtar and Diogo Dalot from FC Porto, Manchester United addressed two key areas of their squad that needed bolstering, but there’s a few left.

One of those is the left-back position, where Ashley Young has been a stop gap for too long, and where Luke Shaw still struggles to convince José Mourinho he should be starting week in, week out.

A potential solution to that problem has been Alex Sandro, but, so far, no move has been made by Manchester United.

Gazzetta dello Sport emphasise this on Thursday, explaining that while the Red Devils are the most interested right now, Mourinho is simply ‘studying the situation from afar’ for now.

Juventus have been trying to get the Brazilian full-back to sign a contract renewal for some time now, and while Sandro is certainly open to the idea, the prospect of playing in the Premier League remains attractive to him.

Having rejected €60m from Chelsea last year, Juventus are most likely going to be asking for something similar this time around, and considering Manchester United have already spent upwards of £70m, we’ll have to see if they decide to splurge that much a left-back.

Considering the Dalot deal came out of nowhere, they might have a similar target up their sleeve for the other side of the pitch.
