It was towards the end of the end of the last summer window that the Spanish media revealed Tottenham Hotspur’s attempt to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid.
Several reports at the time claimed the London side were keen on bringing the Spaniard to the Premier League, but could not succeed in the talks for the move.
Now as Marca writes about Asensio’s situation at Real Madrid, they say that the player’s future will be decided soon, which could potentially provide a boost for Tottenham’s pursuit of the player.
It’s said the winger’s intention is to extend his contract with the Santiago Bernabeu side, and it turns out he’s in a favourable position in the talks, as his current deal expires in 2023.
Now in case Real Madrid hesitate to attend to his demands, than it’s expected that there will be ‘no lack of proposals’ for the 26-year-old, with Marca recalling that the likes of Tottenham and Milan ‘already moved for him’ in the summer.
Now with Spurs and Fabio Paratici certainly watching the situation, those talks for a renewal will be crucial to decide whether Asensio will stay with the La Liga giants or start listening to the interested sides.
