Having arrived at Napoli from Manchester United on deadline day, Scott McTominay has enjoyed a good start to his life in Italy.
The Serie A side reportedly paid €30m to Manchester United for the midfielder. He has a goal and an assist from four matches for the Naples club so far.
Last month, Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna said he’s thrilled to have signed the 27-year-old from Manchester United.
Italian journalist and commentator Riccardo Trevisani has now lashed out at the English club for selling the player.
Speaking to Cronache di Spogliatoio, relayed by CalcioNapoli24, Trevisani is surprised the Premier League decided to part ways with the Scotland international.
He then went to criticise Manchester United’s transfer business in recent years and even suggested Old Trafford has become a graveyard for players.
“McTominay scored goals, he carried the cross, he had determination and yet they kicked him out! Nothing works at Manchester United, a club that only does stupid things, you can’t guess anything,” he said.
“They killed every player, Højlund, De Ligt, Antony, Rashford, now Zirkzee, even Casemiro, it’s a joke, there is no comparable team, they should be arrested. PSG are scientists in comparison! They have thrown away managers, coaches and players in recent years. They have no idea what they are doing.”
McTominay was Manchester United’s third top scorer [along with Alejandro Garnacho] with 10 goals, behind Rasmus Højlund and Bruno Fernandes.
Manchester United have had a poor start to the season, winning three games from eight matches in all competitions. This includes a 7-0 win over Barnsley in the EFL Cup.
