Claudio Ranieri has been speaking to Corriere dello Sport about various things, mainly involving Europe’s biggest clubs.

The Italian newspaper wanted to know how Ranieri feels the Champions League will go, which teams are going to be fighting for the Premier League, and a few obvious questions and answers about Chelsea.

In their build-up to the main part of the interview, Corriere dello Sport claim Ranieri had the chance to take over from Craig Shakespeare at Leicester City, but turned the opportunity down, happy with his role at Nantes for now.

Leicester have since appointed Claude Puel, and things have started well, but it’s stated the Foxes telephoned Ranieri and asked if he’d like to return.

The Italian gave his former club a straight but polite answer: “No, grazie.”

Given Corriere dello Sport have a lengthy interview with the former Leicester manager on the same page, it would have to be assumed their claim is well sourced, and the “No, grazie” comes straight from Ranieri’s mouth.
