Clubs who have been hovering around Andreas Christensen are now backing away, with it being clear his agents have sent out a message that a renewal is now on the verge of happening.
The Danish defender’s current contract expires at the end of the season, and that saw him belong to a group of Chelsea players who have very uncertain futures. There’s been some issues specifically with Christensen in recent weeks, and Thomas Tuchel suggested it had impacted his selection choices.
That should now all be a thing of the past.
Mundo Deportivo report that Barcelona have given up on the player, with his signing now seen as very unlikely.
That’s because he’s ‘very close’ to signing his Chelsea renewal, and it’s explained the Champions league winners can soon ‘officially announce’ that a contract has been agreed.
Barcelona will therefore look at other potential signings from Chelsea.
Over in Italy it’s a similar story.
Calciomercato report AC Milan had been keen, but there’s ‘no good news from London’, with the Rossoneri also learning, from the player’s agent, that a renewal with Chelsea is now ‘well underway’ and it’s expected the defender will be continuing his career at Stamford Bridge.
